Matthew Pennington has taken to Twitter to announce his departure from Everton, having spent over 15 years at the club.
The centre-back said that, after many loans away, now is the time for him to part ways with the Toffees on a permanent basis.

The 26-year-old rose through the youth ranks at Goodison Park, and has been with the Toffees since 2005.
In total, Pennington made just nine appearances for the club’s first-team, but he wrote himself into Everton folklore in 2017.
On his first start of the campaign, the Warrington-born defender headed past Simon Mignolet at the Kop End to score his first Everton goal.
It would’ve been a special moment for him regardless, but to do it against Liverpool, inside Anfield, at the Kop End is the stuff of dreams.
This season, Pennington made 19 League One appearances for Shrewsbury, scoring two goals and providing one assist in what was a solid campaign.
What’s next for Pennington?
The Everton academy graduate did not say where he was heading next.
However, after his efforts this season, we wouldn’t be surprised if Shrewsbury try to sign the £19,230-a-week man on a permanent basis.
While at Everton, Pennington also spent time on loan at Leeds, Hull, Tranmere, Walsall, Coventry and Ipswich.
At 26, it’s certainly time for him to find a long-term home, where he can settle down and focus on his football properly.
