Michael Ledger has made the bench for Sunderland once this season.
Sunderland defender Michael Ledger has been commenting on a potential move to Norwegian side Viking, as he joins the club for training this week.
The 19-year-old had his first training session with the club today and is hopeful of concluding a loan deal if the Norwegian side can negotiate a deal with Sunderland for his services.

Ledger told Dagsavisen in Norway that he was impressed by what he saw at Viking and would like to join the club on loan:
“This was better than I expected. The stadium was great – not unlike Sunderland – and all the facilities look great. This looks very good.
“I heard about the interest a week ago and was never in any doubt about what I wanted.
“Here I have the chance to play first-team football. I think a loan can be a very good idea.”
He also commented on his long-term future. He confirmed his contract with the Black Cats ends in the summer and that he would like to remain on Wearside:

“The agreement with Sunderland runs out this summer. (But) Sunderland is my club and I’d rather be, but I’m keeping all options open. You never know in football and it’s nice to have choices.”
Viking are managed by Englishman Ian Burchnall, who previously worked with the likes of Leeds United and Bradford City. He has been pivotal to trying to get Ledger to Viking.
No deal has yet to be confirmed, but it appears a good deal for all concerned if the right figures can be agreed.
Sunderland rate Ledger, who was on the bench for the 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the start of the New Year, but first-team opportunities look hard to come by.
It will be interesting to see if he can confirm a Norwegian move in the days to come.
