Luis Binks has claimed to Football Ollie that Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho was a bigger fan of him than Mauricio Pochettino.

Mourinho has famously been criticised for a supposed lack of ability to bring young players through, but he has seemed intent on changing that perception since arriving at Tottenham.

Mourinho has offered chances to plenty of Spurs’s young players, and Binks was another player who felt he benefitted from the Portuguese boss’s arrival.

Binks actually left Spurs to move to MLS not long after Mourinho arrived.

However, he was quickly promoted to first-team training at Tottenham when the three-time Premier League winning manager was appointed.

And Binks said: “When Mourinho came in, for me personally it changed a lot of things.

“I was training with the first team [under Mourinho] more than I was when I was with Pochettino and I think he liked me more than Pochettino did so for me it was good.”

Since moving to Canada, Binks has quickly gone on to show why he was rated by Mourinho.

The youngster has impressed enough already with Montreal Impact to earn a move to Serie A side Bologna.

Spurs will surely now be watching the 19-year-old’s progress with interest, and if he keeps progressing at his current rate, they may regret letting him leave in the coming years.
