Tottenham Hotspur youngster Reo Griffiths struck a brace at the weekend to extend his lead at the top of the under-18 goalscoring charts.

Griffiths scored twice in their 5-0 win over Aston Villa, to make it 19 goals in 16 under-18 league games.

He is the league’s highest scorer, five goals clear of Everton’s Anthony Gordon.

Griffiths has even more goals to his name this season, scoring for Spurs in the UEFA Youth League, FA Youth Cup, and Premier League Cup. He has totalled 26 in all.

At the weekend his goals were not exactly spectacular, tapping in from close range and deflecting in a goalbound effort to claim himself, but these are traits good strikers have, being in the right place at the right time.

As his superb season continues, the 17-year-old is putting Tottenham under big pressure.

Griffiths is wanted by RB Leipzig, according to ESPN, with ex-Spurs head of recruitment Paul Mitchell keen to bring him to Germany after taking up a new job at the club.

Griffiths is only on a short term deal at Spurs and if he moves to Germany they could lose him for next to nothing.

The more goals Griffiths scores the worse it will look if Tottenham can’t hold onto him.

Griffiths will face questions himself for not wanting to stick around at Spurs if he chooses to move on, but the pressure is on the North London club to tie him down.
