Leeds United were in the market for a new playmaker over the summer, but they may end up using other summer signings in the number 10 role.

The Whites have been using Rodrigo in that position recently, whilst Raphinha played as a number 10 for the Under-23’s on Sunday.

Still, if Leeds are still in the top half of the table come January and have a chance at European football, they may just try to dip back into the market for another creative force.

One player they really wanted over the summer was Rodrigo De Paul, with The Telegraph reporting late in August that Leeds were pursuing a deal.

In the end, Leeds couldn’t secure an agreement for the Argentinian star, and he has shown his quality in the early stages of the Serie A season.

The 26-year-old has completed 19 dribbles in five games, the highest total in Serie A, at 3.8 per game, whilst he has also racked up 3.2 key passes per game.

De Paul is second for total key passes at 16, behind only Filip Djuricic of Sassuolo, as he continues to excel in those important attacking areas.

If Leeds still want De Paul, then they will surely be impressed with his early-season numbers – and he is again showing how he could be a real force under compatriot Marcelo Bielsa.
