Newcastle United have reportedly received two pieces of positive news.
According to The Chronicle, the Magpies have agreed a loan extension with Inter Milan for Valentino Lazaro.
The Austria international joined Newcastle on a half-season loan in January and was due back in Italy by June 30.
But The Chronicle claims that the St James’s Park club will be keeping him in the North East until the 2019-20 campaign is finished.
And beyond that? Well, the report also adds that Lazaro himself is ‘open-minded’ about a permanent move to United.
He certainly seems happy at the Premier League club and here’s a tweet, accompanied by a training video of his session at Benton, that he has sent out.
Inter spent £19.7 million on the 24-year-old only last summer, so you would think that the San Siro club wouldn’t accept a loss on their investment so soon after spending a significant sum of money on him.
He has only managed five appearances across all competitions, but he was looking like a very promising addition by Steve Bruce prior to the shut-down in football and time will tell whether Newcastle pursue a long-term deal.
