Speculation is rife that Leeds United are close to wrapping up another signing.
Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Saturday morning that Leeds and Dinamo Zagreb would ‘soon’ reach an agreement for Josko Gvardiol.
The 18-year-old is a very highly rated defender and even has an admirer in Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
But Leeds look set to sign the youngster in what would be an £18 million deal, Romano revealed on Twitter earlier in the week.
And the player himself has only added to the speculation by ‘liking’ an Instagram post relating to a switch to Elland Road.
One United fan posted a photoshopped image of Gvardiol wearing a Leeds shirt in what could be considered a major clue that he’s bound for West Yorkshire.
Ordinarily, if Victor Orta were to sign a teenager then it would suggest that he’d be plying his trade in the Under-23s.
But with such a hefty price-tag, Gvardiol is almost certainly being signed as member of Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team squad.
There’s no way that Leeds – who broke their transfer record in a £30 million deal for Rodrigo last week – would spend such a big amount on this kid if he wasn’t going straight into the senior set-up.
