Stuart Dallas will be missing Leeds United’s relegation battle.

The Whites revealed on Twitter this afternoon that the Northern Ireland international is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Dallas picked up an injury in the 4-0 defeat by Manchester City at Elland Road on Saturday evening.

The former Brentford winger suffered a femoral fracture and will now travel to London for surgery on the problem.

It’s awful news for a Leeds side that need all the leaders they can get right now.

Everton’s victory over Chelsea this afternoon has increased the likelyhood that Jesse Marsch’s side – who are 17th in the Premier League table – will get relegated into the Championship ahead of the final four games of the season.

Dallas has been a heroic figure for Leeds down the years and not only played a massive role in helping Marcelo Bielsa win promotion in 2020, but keeping them in the Premier League last season.

Here’s how teammate Diego Llorente – a £17 million signing under Bielsa – reacted to the news on Twitter today:

Leeds fixtures

The Whites have a horrible run-in over the coming weeks.

First, they visit an Arsenal side who have Champions League qualification in sight next Sunday.

After that, they’re home to a Chelsea side who are capable of blitzing them, just like Manchester City did in West Yorkshire last night.

Leeds’ final two Premier League outings are home to Brighton & Hove Albion and away to Brentford.

But you get the impression that if the first two upcoming games end badly, the final two might not make a difference.

Dallas, as mentioned, has been a rock for United and he’s undeniably going to be a massive miss between now and the end of the campaign.
