Everton are in strong position, both on and off the pitch. Since Farhad Moshiri took over the club, the Toffees have been hugely ambitious and it doesn’t look like that is going to change this summer.

Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment was a huge statement of intent by Everton. The experienced Italian is trusted with the job of getting the club higher up the table and, so far, he has done a pretty good job.

A few additions to the squad this summer could help Everton compete for the European places on a regular basis, but the last thing they would want is to lose one of their current stars.

ESPN have claimed that Premier League big boys Manchester City and Chelsea have Lucas Digne on their wish list ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Both clubs are reportedly keen on Ben Chilwell and it is claimed that they will only move for the Everton defender if they can’t land the Leicester City star.

Only one of the two clubs can land Chilwell if Leicester decide to sell him this summer. That would leave the other lurking around Goodison Park to lure Digne away.

Losing Digne is definitely out of the question for Everton. The Frenchman, signed for £18 million from Barcelona in 2018, (BBC) still has three years left on his contract, and the Toffees will be in a strong position in negotiations.

However, it is always difficult for clubs to hold on to their best players when one of the big sides comes in for them.

Everton should do everything they can to keep hold of Digne. Letting one big player leave will set a dangerous precedent which could eventually lead to all of their best players moving on in the near future – something that they simply cannot allow.
