The Liverpool captain was in impressive form as England beat Malta 2-0 at Wembley.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was in fine form for England on Saturday as they beat Malta at Wembley.
The Reds star was named in Gareth Southgate’s first game in charge of the Three Lions in a three-man midfield alongside Wayne Rooney and Dele Alli.
It proved to be a happy evening for Southgate’s men as they ran out comfortable 2-0 winners courtesy of goals from Daniel Sturridge and Spurs midfielder Alli.

In truth, it was a pedestrian evening for England, who should have put more past their opponents than they managed.
Nonetheless, a win was the most important factor and Henderson’s performance was key to them achieving it, as shown by his stats from WhoScored.
He posted 187 touches throughout the game, the most of any player in the game and 10 more than his nearest competitor Rooney.

He managed 178 passes in total, 165 of which were accurate, both of which were again the most posted by any player in the game.
He also enjoyed a huge 93% passing accuracy in total, a clear indication of how little a threat that Malta offered.
An impressive display from Henderson then, who continues to shine for club and country at the beginning of this campaign.
