West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing the West Bromwich Albion pair.
West Ham boss David Moyes has a lot of work to do this summer, if he is to build a squad of players who are capable of making a sustained push for the Europa League spots next season.
One particular area of concern for the Scot will be his defensive department, with his side ending the Premier League campaign having conceded the joint most goals (68) in the league.
According to a report from Football.London, Moyes is a eyeing a double swoop for West Brom duo Jonny Evans and Craig Dawson this summer, for a combined fee of just £18 million.
Dawson, who is available for around £15 million, is one of the league’s most consistent performers, and he can operate in either the right full-back or centre-back positions.
At 28-years-old, the Baggies defender is vastly experienced, and he would certainly add another level of solidarity to the Hammers’ back-line.
Evans, meanwhile, is available for an absolute bargain £3 million, due to a release clause inserted into his contract that was activated when West Brom’s relegation down to the Championship was confirmed.
The Northern Ireland international is one of the top flight’s best defenders, and he would improve West Ham’s defensive play without question.
At 30-years-old, Evans still has plenty of years at the very highest level for a centre-back, and his arrival at the London Stadium, alongside Dawson, would surely elevate the Hammers into genuine contenders for the Europa League spots immediately.
