Tottenham striker has been outscored by his injury hit predecessor.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen on the bench
There were high hopes for Vincent Janssen when he signed for Tottenham Hotspur last summer.
He arrived as the Eredivisie top goalscorer and was the first striker Tottenham had spent money on since Roberto Soldado.
For £17 million [BBC] Janssen seemed reasonably priced, but he has failed to live up to expectations.
This season he has netted only two Premier League goals in 18 appearances, adding his second in a recent victory over Bournemouth.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen shoots at goal
He has shown signs of improvement in recent weeks but his record this season has been poor, with his performances lacking confidence, and his play failing to add the spark Spurs have often needed.
No goals in five Champions League appearances did not help his cause.
Spurs fans were desperate that Janssen did not become their Roberto Soldado 2.0, but so far that appears to be what they have bought.
Familiar…? Tottenham Hotspur’s Roberto Soldado on the bench

Soldado missed the first part of this season through injury at Villarreal, only making his first appearance of the campaign in February.
Yet even since then he has outscored Janssen, netting three league goals for the La Liga side, and providing three assists, each coming in his last three matches.
Soldado lacked confidence at Tottenham and the decision to sell him was the right one. But the last thing Spurs expected when signing Janssen was to be buying a forward whose record would be bettered by him this season in half the time.
