West Ham are said to be interested in bringing Senegal international Boulaye Dia to England in January.

According to Tutto Salernitana, the Hammers have a bid ready and waiting to be submitted for the 26-year-old, and we believe he could now secure his move to the London Stadium on Sunday.

What’s the story?

Well, Dia is expected to start for Senegal against England on Sunday, in what could basically turn out to be an audition for him, as far as a move to West Ham is concerned.

By the sounds of it, the east Londoners are just one step away from submitting their offer, and a strong showing from the Salernitana No.29 could be enough to give David Moyes a nudge to get the deal done.

Dia has scored one goal in three games at the World Cup so far, after netting six goals in 14 Serie A appearances before jetting off to Qatar.

The £20,000-a-week striker has clearly done enough to win some admirers at West Ham.

However, we firmly believe a bright performance against England would all but secure his move to east London, as he will find himself up against some of the best defenders the Premier League has to offer.

Furthermore, Declan Rice will also be tasked with keeping an eye on Dia from a defensive midfield role.

In that respect, a dazzling display from the Senegalese striker could end up with the West Ham No.41 putting a word in to Moyes back home, encouraging him to finalise the transfer.

West Ham have competition for Boulaye Dia

The one negative for West Ham, if Dia does play well against England, is the added competition it could bring.

Tutto Salernitana believe Leeds and Leicester are also interested, so Moyes already has some competition for his signature even before Sunday’s Round of 16 clash in Qatar between Senegal and England.

Dia is currently on loan at Salernitana from Villarreal, although the aforementioned Italian news outlet believe the Serie A side will activate their £10m option to buy, and will then put a £17m price tag on his head.

Be sure to keep an eye on Dia this Sunday, as a strong showing could convince West Ham to submit their bid.
