Tottenham target Weston McKennie is now “hoping” to leave Juventus this month, but has already rejected a move to Aston Villa.
What’s the story?
Well, it was Tuttosport who revealed that Tottenham want to sign the United States international.
Now, Antonio Conte has received a boost as McKennie aims to leave Juventus – according to Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports.
As detailed by the BBC, the Italian giants have just been hit with a 15-point deduction following an investigation into their previous transfer agreements, which leaves them tenth in Serie A.
Jacobs does not specifically mention that this development has upset McKennie, although the American is still “hoping” for an offer to arrive as he intends to leave Turin.
Juventus were third in Italy’s top-flight, so their points deduction makes qualification for the Champions League next season a real uphill task.
Therefore, you can certainly understand why McKennie – who Juventus signed from Schalke 04 for £16m – and others may want to leave the Allianz Stadium.
The 24-year-old has made 20 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring three goals while also providing two assists.
McKennie also represented the United States at the World Cup in Qatar.
Tottenham target may regret Aston Villa snub
In our view, McKennie may end up regretting his decision to reject Aston Villa if no other side comes in for him.
It would have made far more sense for the American to keep his options open, rather than giving the Villans a firm no when they came calling.

Aston Villa are one of the biggest clubs in England, and would have been able to offer McKennie the chance to play under a fantastic manager in Unai Emery, alongside some excellent midfielders such as Boubacar Kamara.
Hopefully, another side does make an offer for the Juventus No.8 before the transfer window ends, or he will be left with egg on his face.
