Southampton are close to signing Mohamed Elyounoussi.
Elyounoussi is currently at Swiss side Basel and has been tracked by Premier League sides for the past few months.
German side Wolfsburg are complicating matters, but Elyounoussi has already admitted his desire to play in England.
The Southampton target has been following the heroics of former Basel star Mohamed Salah and wants to emulate the Egyptian.
He was quoted by The Sun last month; “Mo Salah inspires me. He has had an exciting season, and he is one of several players to do well after leaving Basel.
“Could I move to an English club? It depends on who comes in for me – I will study the whole package.
“But I feel that I am good enough to make the big step up.”
The Norway international will have seen both sides of Salah’s journey, with his initial step after Basel a failed spell at Chelsea.
This is why a move to the Saints could be good for him, so he will not get lost at a club full of already established sueprstars.
So long as he does not take copying Salah too literally and one day make a move to Liverpool, Southampton fans should enjoy seeing the winger in action.
