It looks like Calum Chambers will play no part in Arsenal’s visit to Everton this evening.
The England international, who spent virtually all of 2020 on the sidelines, played 90 minutes for the Gunners’ Under-23 side in a win against Leicester City last night.
But he has also appeared for Mikel Arteta’s side in the Europa League in recent weeks.
And with Arsenal needing centre-back cover for the suspended Gabriel at Goodison, some fans of the Emirates Stadium side wanted Chambers – a £16 million signing in 2014 – to deputise.
But it seems like he hasn’t travelled to Merseyside.
Here’s what the 25-year-old has posted on Twitter, hours before the game.
Pablo Mari and William Saliba also played for Steve Bould’s side last night, meaning it’s unlikely either of them will be partnering Rob Holding in central defence against the Toffees.
But David Luiz is available again following his head collision against Wolves earlier this month and with Chambers absent from the squad, it looks like it’ll be Holding and the Brazilian as centre-backs.
The North Londoners are 15th in the Premier League table.
