Pierre Emerick Aubameyang looks set to end his nightmare spell at Chelsea as there has been a major development over the former Arsenal striker’s future.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has given the famous ‘Here we go!’ for the sale of the Gabonese striker to French giants Marseille after what has been a dismal 12 months at Stamford Bridge for the 34-year-old forward.

The report from the Italian journalist Romano, claims that Aubameyang is set to sign a two-year deal with an option for a further year and Romano also, crucially, claims that Chelsea have agreed to rip up the striker’s contract and allow him to leave for free.

Aubameyang was earning £160,000 a week whilst at Chelsea, according to The Athletic.

This is further backed up by TalkSport who claims Aubameyang has agreed to tear up his contract as he was eager to make the move back to France after previously being in Ligue 1 with Saint Etienne.

‘Medical soon’

Romano also confirms the plan for the 34-year-old striker to travel for a medical with the tests scheduled for Thursday before joining up with the Marseille team, which boasts the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Matteo Guendouzi, Saed Kolasinac, and Nuno Tavares.

There is a core of former Premier League players for the French giants and the hope will be that Aubameyang can be the leader for the group and push them towards fighting for the Ligue 1 title, although with PSG’s financial power, it will be a tough task to upset the established order.

For Chelsea, the clearout continues under Mauricio Pochettino. Aubameyang is not expected to be the final striker departure with Romelu Lukaku wanting to return to Italy with Juventus reportedly closing in on a deal to sign the striker according to The Telegraph, despite the Belgian spending last season on loan at the San Siro.

Despite the Blues set to lose two strikers, Pochettino will feel he has enough depth in the striker department, with Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku able to fit in when needed.
