Corriere dello Sport have claimed that AZ Alkmaar skipper Teun Koopmeiners is now on Napoli’s summer wishlist.
The 22-year-old is widely expected to leave the Netherlands this summer, with a number of clubs looking at him.
A defensive midfielder by trade, Koopmeiners is not shy of goals with 16 to his name this season. That is an impressive return despite the majority of those coming from the penalty spot.
Koopmeiners would be an exciting signing for many clubs across Europe and Gennaro Gattuso’s Napoli are viewing him as a replacement for Allan, who is tipped to leave the club this summer.
Calciomercato recently claimed that Premier League duo Everton and West Ham United were looking at the Dutchman, but the rumours have slowly calmed down.
With the current situation across football, transfer negotiations aren’t easy to complete. Napoli, like the two English clubs, will have to wait for a while before finalising any move this summer.

That should give Everton and West Ham a little more time to go through all their options. Yet it is unlikely that they will find a 22-year-old as exciting as Koopmeiners for a small fee.
The Sun claimed that the AZ skipper will be available for just £12 million, which is as good a bargain as either club will get this summer.
Marcel Brands’ influence at Everton should really give them a slight edge over West Ham and Napoli. However, the Italian giants possibly offering European football could ultimately sway the deal their way.
