Leeds United winger Helder Costa has had a busy time of it out on loan.
It hasn’t been a stellar loan at Valencia for the Angola international, who joined Leeds in a £15 million deal in 2019.
So far, the 27-year-old winger has only managed 16 minutes of league football since moving away from Elland Road.
With that in mind, he’d probably have been looking forward to international duty, with his country taking on Gabon in a World Cup qualifier tomorrow.
But the player has been sent back to Spain by his national team’s federation.
The reason being, the pilot who flew the Leeds-owned attacker to his stop-over in Frankfurt was diagnosed with covid, according to El Desmarque.
And as a precaution, Angola told him to fly back to Spain in light of the fact that the Gabon clash is as soon as tomorrow.
The good news for Costa is that he returned a negative test for the coronavirus but even still, he won’t be joining up with his international colleagues.
In light of his lack of football, Costa could’ve really used the minutes against Gabon.
The former Wolves star, who managed three goals and three assists in 22 Premier League games last season, is a player who needs momentum before hitting form.
He isn’t the sort of footballer who can turn it on with the flick of a switch, like others can.
But at least he can continue to train with Los Che ahead of their trip to Barcelona on October 17.
