15-year-old Swedish talent Riad Shehu has been discussing his recent trial with the Tottenham Hotspur youth team.

His name will not be familiar with Tottenham fans, but he has a quite remarkable story about how he ended up playing in a game for Tottenham’s under-16s v their Reading counterparts.

As reported in Bekinge Lans Tidning the talented young striker was in London visiting his cousin when he took part in a game that was watched by scouts. One such scout was from Spurs who invited him to Hotspur Way to get involved.

Shehu, who had a trial at Feyenoord in 2017, played the second half of the 6-4 win v Reading and got to meet Harry Kane, as he explained to the paper:

“My cousin has played football earlier and he fixed so I joined and played in a London match. There were players in the match that several scouts had a look at, and afterwards I was asked if I did not want to test with Tottenham.

“It was nervous, but a cool experience, I played the whole second half and we won by 6-4.

“Harry Kane was there in the pool. I introduced myself, he greeted us and we took a selfie, where I was quite starstruck.”

The talented teenager is currently playing for his local side Ronneby BK, who currently play in the fifth tier of Swedish football, and has hopes of one day becoming a professional footballer:

” I dream of becoming a professional one day, but you have to work hard to get there, I think it’s easy to forget what’s needed.”

The teenager, who has a bag of tricks and clearly has potential after spurs invited him for a trial, is open to the possibility of a future at Spurs but is currently focused on life in Sweden with his current club:

“I have not decided any further contact with Tottenham, my cousin will handle it if it there is an update.

“I will continue in RBK, we have received very many talented players in the team.”

He may go on to become a Swedish star, you may never hear his name again. But Spurs fans should just take a note in case this player does go on to become a force in the football world.
