Everton could be set to quadruple their profits after making one key decision back in 2023 on one of their best players.

This summer promises to be an important one for Sean Dyche’s Everton with the club needing to make profit before the end of June to comply with the PSR rules in the Premier League.

Jarrad Branthwaite is the man that could well garner a big profit for the Toffees with HITC reporting that Manchester United have agreed personal terms with the English defender.

The Red Devils made an offer for the defender but it was not close enough for Everton to consider selling with the Merseyside club understood to be demanding around £70 million.

Everton set to potentially make £55 million in profit

Back in 2023, following a successful loan spell in the Netherlands, PSV made a £15 million offer for the English defender, as per the Daily Mail.

Everton rejected this offer and decided to hold onto the former Carlisle United star. 12 months later, this has proven to be an incredibly wise decision.

If the Toffees choose to sell the Englishman to Manchester United this summer they could quadruple the profits that they would have made had they sold Branthwaite to PSV last summer.

The Red Devils are expected to come back in for a second offer but it is unclear if United will make an offer that would force Everton to sell.

Branthwaite has been outstanding for Everton this season and there is little surprise to see the Englishman linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Everton’s deadline could be a concern

As mentioned, because of Everton’s poor financial situation, the club do need a certain amount of money before the end of June.

This is to comply with the profit & sustainability rules put in place by the Premier League but as time ticks on, you wonder if the Toffees would accept around £50 million for Branthwaite.

If the club are able to make the money required before the end of June, this would give the club the upper hand in negotiations.

Amadou Onana is the player the Toffees are understood to prefer to sell this summer with a fee of £50 million set to be the key for a sale.

Either way, the Toffees are set to make a huge profit on Branthwaite if they choose to sell and their £15 million decision they made last summer looks to be one of the best the club have made in a decade.
