Tottenham and Celtic should be on alert over target Rafa Mir.

Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic will both have an opportunity next month to secure the signing of long-term target Rafa Mir on a pre-contract agreement.

Spanish newspaper Super Deporte reported in April that Spurs were high on potentially acquiring Mir.

The report stated Tottenham’s scouts believe Mir has the right physical power, speed, and ability and ‘fits perfectly’ the type of player they wanted to sign.

The same report claimed Scottish champions Celtic were keen, and both clubs will have the chance to make their move next month to try and sign him for free next summer.

Mir has been playing for Valencia’s B team this season, and has scored a superb 15 goals in 17 games.

A new report in Super Deporte this weekend suggested Valencia have pretty much given up on convincing Mir to sign a contract extension, and reported that the situation has reached a ‘critical point’.

Mir was dropped from the B team’s starting line up for the first time this season, with Valencia wanting to take a look at other players.

The scenario could lead to Valencia trying to cash in on the 20-year-old this January, and both Spurs and Celtic should consider making a move for a small fee if they want him immediately.
