What a night it was for Arsenal defender Pablo Mari on Thursday.
The Gunners thrashed Rapid Vienna 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium to maintain their stunning Europa League form.
And it was the big 27-year-old, on his comeback, who scored Arsenal’s second of the night.
This was Mari’s second debut for the North Londoners after securing a £14 million permanent move to North London this past summer.
It was also his first game since June due to a long-term injury and here’s how the Spanish defender reacted to the occasion on Instagram:
It was a solid all-around display from the former Flamengo centre-back, but the most important thing is not his goal, or his performance, but the fact he got 90 minutes under his belt.
This is a hectic month for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta is going to need to rotate some defensive players due to the demand.
And simply put, it would’ve been pretty disastrous for the Gunners had Mari broken down once again.
But he came through the test with flying colours and let’s see how he fares from here on in.
