Brighton could now drop interest in Celtic forward Moussa Dembele.

Celtic appear to have been given a boost in their hopes of hanging onto striker Moussa Dembele.

This is because most likely suitors Brighton and Hove Albion have made their move, and it’s not for Dembele.

Dutch website Voetball International report Brighton have agreed a £14.1 million fee for PSV Eindhoven striker Jurgen Locadia.

This should rule out Brighton moving for Dembele this transfer window, with their desire to sign a big money striker satiated.

The Guardian reported last month that Brighton wanted to sign Celtic forward Dembele, but did not want to meet the Scottish side’s £20 million valuation.

Last January Dembele was linked with some of Europe’s top sides and despite Celtic softening their stance towards a potential transfer, bids have not arrived for a player who has struggled with injuries this season.

SkyBet still had Brighton listed last night at 10/1 favourites to sign Dembele.

Behind that Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace followed at 12/1 with AC Milan at 16/1 and Everton 18/1.
