Liverpool star James Milner has told Sky Sports that the Premier League will be a better division with Leeds United in it.

Milner, who can operate as a midfielder, winger or full-back, started his professional club football career at Leeds.

The 34-year-old Englishman – who earns £140,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – has spoken highly of the Whites.

The former Newcastle United and Aston Villa star has also responded when asked if he will return to Leeds.

Milner told Sky Sports when asked about a potential return to Leeds: “You never know in football, what’s around the corner, but I just want to contribute and win as many trophies as I can for Liverpool and add to the great history here.

“I’m biased, but I think the Premier League will be a better place for Leeds in it, and it will be weird to play against them next season.

“It seems a long time ago since I pulled on that shirt, you look back at photos and see how big the shirts were back then.

“Plenty has changed since then, unfortunately I was part of the team that got relegated and they haven’t come back and recovered just yet. It would be great to see them back next season and their fans are incredible as well.”

Automatic promotion to the Premier League

Leeds are going strong in the Championship at the moment and are currently at the top of the league table.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side need to do well for a few more games and maintain their cool, and the Whites’ fans will be confident and optimistic of the team doing just that.

It is hard to see Milner move to Leeds this summer, but perhaps the Englishman could be back at Elland Road in the coming years.

Liverpool have just won the Premier League title, and the 34-year-old played his role in the triumph.
