West Ham United reportedly want to bring Joe Allen back to the Premier League from Championship outfit Stoke City.

West Ham United have been linked with a move for Joe Allen and those of you with long memories will be quick to pick up on the fact that this is not the first time the Wales international has been on The Hammers’ radar.
According to The Telegraph, Stoke City are expecting the likes of Allen and Jack Butland to depart this summer with the midfielder attracting interest from West Ham and Watford.
Considering that Stoke are stuck in the middle of the Championship, even the biggest Potters fan could understand if the former Liverpool enforcer wanted to return to the Premier League.
A combative talent whose work rate often overshadows his underrated technical skills, Allen would undoubtedly strengthen a weak West Ham underbelly. He’d certainly be a better addition to the midfield than either Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez.

And it is interesting to note that, 14 months ago, West Ham co-owner David Sullivan confirmed to Jim White on talkSPORT (5 February, 10am) that the London giants had tried and failed to sign Allen for a then-club-record £25 million.
Allen was starring in the Premier League back then and you can imagine that he’ll be a lot cheaper these days after a year in the Championship.
Will Sullivan finally get his man – for a bargain fee to boot?
