West Ham United should renew their interest in 24-year-old, before he joins a potential Premier League rival.

According to Tutto Mercatoweb, West Brom and Crystal Palace are interested in signing Fiorentina marksman Khouma Babacar.

But if he does go to an English club then it should be West Ham United.

West Ham’s interest in the 24-year-old dates back to 2013 when the Senegal international claimed via The Express that the Irons were weighing up a move for him.

Sam Allardyce was not a roaring success in East London but history has proven that he was right to consider the Fiorentina ace, if his goals are anything to go by.

Last season, Babacar netted 14 goals in 18 Serie A and Europa League starts for the Italian outfit – and has scored 32 in 51 starts overall – and surely Slaven Bilic is not in a position to turn his nose up at such a return.

In fact, Bilic also reportedly wanted him as a report from Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that he was on the Croat’s radar.

Fast forward 12 months and West Ham still need a striker – well, at least one.

Given the calibre of names that have been linked – Olivier Giroud, Javier Hernandez, Kelechi Iheanacho – Hammers fans would be disappointed if Babacar was the only striker that Bilic brought in this summer.

But the East Londoners need at least two and would they be upset if Babacar was followed to the club by, say, Hernandez or somebody of that ilk?

His record suggests that he knows where the goal is and, at 24, he is only going to improve.
