The France international has been heavily linked with moves to both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks.
Monaco’s Thomas Lemar celebrates
Popular bookmakers SkyBET have installed the Gunners as new favourites in the race to sign Monaco wonderkid Thomas Lemar.
Arsenal have leap-frogged fierce rivals Spurs in the listings.
Two weeks ago, Mauricio Pochettino’s men were firm favourites to sign the 21-year-old Frenchman with SkyBET, and although their odds of 5/2 haven’t changed, Arsene Wenger’s side have been cut in from 4/1 to 4/5 to win the race.
The Caen academy graduate was a major contributing factor behind his Monaco side’s superb campaign.
His nine goals and 10 assists in domestic competition helped his side to their outstanding title success. He also scored two goals and chipped in with four assists during Monaco’s impressive run to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

He would be a superb signing for whichever club manages to win the race for his signature, but Arsenal are arguably more in need of someone with Lemar’s talent than Tottenham, especially with the prospect of losing both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil this summer.
The 21-year-old is still under contract with Monaco until 2020, so he will command a huge transfer fee, most likely in excess of £50 million.
Despite Spurs holding the advantage of having Champions League football on offer, the Gunners are still in a stronger financial position than their arch rivals, and because of this, Lemar moving to the Emirates would seem like the more realistic outcome.
