Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer was given the nod in a huge game for the club away to Liverpool, despite Jan Vertonghen’s return to fitness.
Wimmer stepped in after Vertonghen suffered a knee injury in January, and has fitted in seamlessly alongside fellow summer signing Toby Alderweireld at centre-back.
There is only one way to keep Vertonghen out, and that is to make himself ‘undroppable’ – and his displays in recent games have seen his stake a good claim to this end.
Against Liverpool he was impressive, winning the ball back for his team on seven occasions, matching his previous best in a Tottenham shirt, made in his last match for the club, versus Bournemouth.
