Leeds United and Manchester United target Sergio Gomez has admitted that he is unsure what his future holds, with the Spanish youngster being linked with a move to England.
Speaking to Cadena Ser’s El Larguero via the Mirror, the 21-year-old fullback was asked if he has been approached by any interested parties in the previous weeks, with Gomez a target for both Leeds and United.
TeamTalk have already claimed that Jesse Marsch’s side are interested in the former Barcelona academy talent, with Gazzetta dello Sport further reporting that United are also keen on the Spanish youth international.
Gomez joined R.S.C. Anderlecht last summer after failing to impress at Borussia Dortmund. However, since joining the Belgian side and being converted from a creative playmaker to a left-back, the youngster has flourished under Vincent Kompany.
The fullback has bagged an impressive six goals and 14 assists in all competitions for Anderlecht, and this form from Gomez has now caught the attention of both Leeds and United, with Manchester City also believed to be interested in the 21-year-old.
However, when asked about his future, Gomez admitted that he is only focussing on the remainder of the season. The defender said: “I’m focused on the last few months that I have left. I’m focusing on the national team, on the club and taking advantage of all the opportunities. I don’t know anything, really.”
Gomez’s comments should not concern either Leeds or United
With 14 assists this season, Gomez has been a creative revelation for Anderlecht, who could expect a big payday this summer should Leeds or United make a move for the defender, with the fullback’s comments not much of a concern for either side.
Indeed, Gomez’s comments could indicate that the defender intends to end the season with a flourish, which could both drive up his interest beyond Leeds and United as well as his value, something Anderlecht will be eager to do ahead of the summer.
