Paris Saint-Germain’s Danilo Pereira, who was linked with Arsenal in August, doesn’t sound too happy with his role at the Parc des Princes.

The Ligue 1 champions signed the Portugal international from FC Porto in the summer on an initial loan deal.

However, RMC Sport (via GFFN) state that PSG are obligated to buy him for €16 million (£14.4 million).

Speaking to Téléfoot Chaine (via GFFN) about being played in defence by Thomas Tuchel, the 29-year-old said: ‘Defender, that is not my position. I am a midfielder.

‘The manager asks me to play as a central defender, I apply myself to do what the manager is asking for.’

In fairness to the Bissau-born player, he sounds like he’s willing to play there for the team in saying that he will ‘apply’ himself to Tuchel’s demands.

However, his fairly blunt statement that he is ‘not a defender’ – in our view – implies that he isn’t keen on a lengthy stint in the Parisians’ backline, and wants to return to the centre of the field.

Back in August, the Daily Mail revealed that Arsenal were keen on signing Danilo as they looked to bolster their midfield, although Mikel Arteta of course lost out to the cash-strapped French outfit.

However, if he continues to be played out of position by Tuchel, we opine that there’s a chance he could grow even more disillusioned in the French capital – potentially leading to an exit.
