Toby Alderweireld spent six years as a Tottenham Hotspur player.
The Belgium international was sold by former Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo in a £13 million deal last summer.
However, Alderweireld has won a trophy today, eight months after leaving North London.
The 33-year-old left North London to join Qater-based outfit Al-Duhail.
Alderweireld, a central defender, helped the club to a 5-1 victory over Al-Gharafa in the Amir Cup, whilst also registering an assist in the triumph.
Okay so it’s hardly the Champions League, but it is a trophy nonetheless and before this, Alderweireld hadn’t won anything since helping Atletico Madrid to a Primera Liga title in 2014.
Kieran Trippier won the same competition, with the same club, last season, while Christian Eriksen also picked up a Serie A title with Inter Milan last May.
Alderweireld is the latest former Tottenham player who dazzled under Mauricio Pochettino to find success outside England.
And with Spurs guaranteed to go trophyless again this season, well perhaps Harry Kane will once again consider his options this summer.
