Lord Sugar, Gary Lineker and Will Hughes have slammed the decision to award a late penalty to Newcastle United against Tottenham Hotspur today.
Towards the end of the Premier League game between Tottenham and Newcastle at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, Steve Bruce’s side were awarded a controversial penalty.
Eric Dier was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the Spurs penalty box, but it was unintentional.
The penalty was awarded, and Callum Wilson made no mistake from the spot, as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Former Tottenham striker Lineker and ex-Spurs chairman Lord Sugar have slammed the decision on Twitter, and so has Watford midfielder Will Hughes, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Mirror reported earlier this month that Spurs are considering making a £13 million move for the 25-year-old former Derby County star.
The draw with Newcastle means that Tottenham are seventh in the Premier League table at the moment with four points from three matches.
Spurs will return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on Chelsea at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.
