Well, we can probably agree that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah isn’t the world’s seventh-best player.
That’s where the 29-year-old placed in the Ballon d’Or race for 2021.
But after his show-stopping performance in the Merseyside derby win at Everton on Wednesday, Salah is clearly top three in the world.
He scored Liverpool’s second and third goals in a 4-1 rout of Rafael Benitez’s side at Goodison Park.
Both were exceptional, albeit different, goals and sometimes there’s just nothing more to be said about the former Roma man.
And it looks like he feels the same, after uploading a caption-less Instagram post.
Salah posted photos of himself in a Liverpool shirt last night but there was no text accompanying it.
Ballon d’Or
Nobody is saying Salah deserved to win the Ballon d’Or, because Robert Lewandowski seemed to be the most unlucky after his stunning 2021.
But to suggest that the Liverpool attacker is the world’s seventh best footballer is ludicrous and what a response from the man himself last night.
The Egypt international now has 19 goals in as many games so far this season – and seven assists.
