Kevin Campbell has tipped Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to recall Kieran Tierney and Martin Odegaard this afternoon.
Arsenal are set to host Newcastle United on the back of a 4-0 defeat away at Liverpool.
The Gunners were dreadful at Anfield and never really looked like doing much on a night where Arteta dropped Tierney and Odegaard.
Nuno Tavares, who started ahead of the Scot at left-back, directly cost Arteta’s side their second goal.
And club legend Campbell has told Highbury Squad on YouTube that he expects the duo to make the starting lineup today.
He said: “It’s time for Tierney to get his position back. We’ve got some big games coming up and we need his experience. Tavares, his time will come. That’s for sure.
“And I’d bring Odegaard back in midfield, in that number 10 slot. I truly believe. I’d bring his young legs back and his football brain back. I expect that to happen.”
Is Martin Odegaard starting for Arsenal today?
Well it isn’t confirmed, but yes.
It would be a huge shock if the Norway international isn’t brought straight back into the first XI.
Against Liverpool, Arsenal were badly missing a creative spark and Odegaard might’ve provided that.
With Newcastle bottom of the Premier League, they’re there for the taking at the Emirates.
But Arteta’s side aren’t noted for their goalscoring and therefore this could also be a bit of a banana skin, particularly with Eddie Howe now at St James’s Park.
Attack is the best form of defence for the hosts and without an Odegaard, they’re probably going to struggle to create much yet again.
