Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been linked with Wilfried Zaha in the summer transfer window, and it has now emerged that the winger could leave Crystal Palace on a free transfer in 2023.

Arsenal linked with Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha

Earlier this week, well-known and well-respected journalist Dean Jones said on The Done Deal Show that Arsenal are interested in signing Zaha from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.

Jones claimed that Arsenal have the former Manchester United winger “in the background”, as they are looking to sign Pedro Neto or Yeremy Pino as priority.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

Free agent in 2023

However, it seems that Arsenal may have to wait until next summer to sign the 29-year-old £130,000-a-week (SalarySport) Ivory Coast international winger.

The Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has told GiveMeSport that he has been informed that Zaha plans to stay at Palace this season and then move on as a free agent next summer.

Taylor told GiveMeSport: “Someone I spoke to believes he will leave on a free transfer next summer.

“He has only got one year left on his contract and he has angled for a move in the past.

“It has not quite happened with Arsenal or Everton and there’s also been interest from foreign clubs like Napoli, Borussia Dortmund and Roma.”

Zaha has been linked with Arsenal in the past.

In May 2020, former Arsenal head coach Unai Emery told The Guardian that he wanted to sign Zaha in the summer of 2019, but the club decided to bring in Nicolas Pepe from Lille instead.
