Former Middlesbrough striker Cristhian Stuani is thriving in Spain.

Last summer saw a lot up upheaval at Middlesbrough as new manager Garry Monk brought in his own players and ditched the ones he didn’t want.
One player who was discarded was Uruguayan striker Cristhian Stuani.
He was sold to Spanish side Girona, and he looks like a player reborn.

Stuani found it tough going at Middlesbrough, scoring 16 goals in 68 appearances.
He has already nearly topped that in one season in La Liga.
This season he has netted 13 goals in 20 games for Girona, which include four in his last four appearances.
The 31-year-old’s form has helped Girona up to eighth place in La Liga, just four points off a Europa League spot.
He is putting himself in contention to feature for Uruguay at the World Cup this summer, especially as he has just four goals fewer than countryman Luis Suarez.
On this form it looks like Stuani might have been worth keeping around at Middlesbrough, especially considering the way his replacements, Ashley Fletcher and Martin Braithewaite have flopped.
