Grealish set to sign new Villa deal
Tottenham’s long-winded pursuit of Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish looks to be coming to an end, after the Daily Star claimed Villa are set to extend the academy product’s contract at Villa Park.
Indeed, the report claims Grealish is set to more than double his £20k-a-week wages under Steve Bruce, after Vila rejected a £25million move to Tottenham. Grealish was said to be keen on a move, but is willing to forget about it.
Bruce still wants Snodgrass
Sticking with Villa, and the Birmingham Mail have claimed that Steve Bruce has not given up hope in signing West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass, after the winger starred on loan at Villa Park last season.
The 30-year-old has impressed Manuel Pellegrini throughout pre-season, but is expected to be on the sidelines behind new signings Andriy Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson. One to watch.
Photo: Wolves-linked Sam Clucas arrives at Stoke
After being linked with Burnley and Wolves, Swansea City star Sam Clucas is now looking like he will remain in the Championship by joining fellow relegated side Stoke – after Sentinel editor Keith Wales Tweeted a picture of him at the Britannia.
It is believed that Clucas, who can play in a variety of positions, will join Gary Rowett’s Stoke for a fee of £8million.
Bielsa keeps cards close to his chest on transfers
Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa responded when asked if Leeds will be busy on deadline day by stating “he cannot give a definite answer”, meaning the Whites could add to their five recruits before 5pm.
He said: “I can’t give you a definite answer. If I had something concrete I would let you know,” as quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay on his Twitter account.
Leeds have been linked with a number of names, including Everton’s Mo Besic and Everton’s Matthew Pennington, but a deal is yet to be completed on Thursday’s deadline day.
