12pm deadline day round-up: Everton and Newcastle in Perez talks, plus updates from both sides of Sheffield

Updates involving Everton, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.

Everton and Newcastle United are in talks to sign Arsenal striker Lucas Perez, according to The Guardian.

The Spaniard is widely understood to want a return to Spain, having struggled for opportunities since his £17 million transfer from Deportivo La Coruna a year ago.

But The Guardian reports he could be on his way to Everton or Newcastle, although it is claimed the transfer fee remains a sticking point.

Elsewhere, West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho is willing to tell co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan he wants a move to Rennes, according to Sky Sports.

Rennes are said to have met West Ham’s demands, although Gold insisted on Wednesday the Senegal international would not be leaving the London Stadium.

The report adds Crystal Palace will not Sakho’s next destination regardless, despite the Eagles having made a £10 million bid.

Into the Championship now, and Sheffield United have had a £2 million bid turned down for Brentford centre-back John Egan, according to Sky Sports.

Having already sold Harlee Dean to Birmingham City this week, reports suggest Brentford are also at risk of losing Jota, Maixme Collin and Egan, a former Sheffield United loanee, ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

And across the Steel City, Sheffield Wednesday striker Sam Winnall could be seeking a loan move, according to The Mail.

Wednesday signed the former Barnsley player in a cut price deal in January, but he’s struggled to get ahead of Gary Hooper, Steven Fletcher or Jordan Rhodes, who despite reports looks set to remain at Hillsborough.
