Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson helped England to a convincing win in World Cup qualifying last night.
Back at Wembley for the first time since their Euro 2020 heartbreak, the Three Lions took their disappointment out on Andorra by smashing them 4-0.
Jesse Lingard fired the hosts into a 1-0 half-time lead, before three goals in the final quarter from Harry Kane, former Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka added the gloss.
Henderson, as ever, was not among the goals due to his deep-lying midfield position, but the Reds skipper played the role of orchestrator to a tee nonetheless.
According to WhoScored, the 31-year-old finished the game with 128 touches, illustrating that he was allowed plenty of time on the ball to pick out his passes.
And that aspect of his game wasn’t bad either, finishing the game with 92.3 percent passing accuracy.
No killer instinct
One criticism of Henderson’s game might be that despite all the touches and passes, there was never really a killer ball that threatened the visitors and that’s one thing that may disappoint the Liverpool star, who earned a new contract at Anfield last month.
Still, his experience counted for a lot on a night where he partnered the ever-so-impressive Jude Bellingham in the middle of the park.
And such an experience is invaluable to 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund gem.
