Arthur Melo has a ‘very serious’ injury at Liverpool.
That is what Jurgen Klopp has revealed to The Daily Mail about his loan signing this past summer.
Arthur joined Liverpool on a season-long loan arrangement from Juventus, where he earns £125,000 per week.
But the Brazil international, who signed on transfer deadline day, only managed 13 minutes of senior football for the Premier League outfit prior to his injury blow.
Here’s what Klopp said about the 26-year-old: “I have no idea how long it will be but it will be long. It’s a really serious injury. He’s here. It’s a long-term injury and when he’s back, we’ll think about it again.”
Originally it was reported by The Athletic that the Juventus-owned midfielder would be missing for around four months.
But the fact that the Liverpool manager cannot offer a prognosis is, well, rather concerning to say the least.
Prior to his injury, there was speculation that the Anfield outfit could potentially cancel his deal in January, such was his struggle to get fit.
And even though Klopp wrote off that suggestion in the same interview, well it does seem distinctly plausible if there’s no chance of him playing before the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
