Callum Hudson Odoi has been tipped to ‘absolutely shine’ at Chelsea under Graham Potter.
Under Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea loaned out the 21-year-old to Bayer Leverkusen for the entireity of the 2022-23 campaign.
It was reported that the German manager had concerns about Hudson Odoi’s weight.
Even last season, he was a peripheral figure at Stamford Bridge under Tuchel and only managed 11 starts in the Premier League.

But former Brighton & Hove Albion boss Potter is Blues’ manager now.
And according to journalist Simon Phillips, this is a player who the English coach likes a lot.
He told Give Me Sport: “Potter really likes Hudson-Odoi and tried to sign him at Brighton recently. It’s clear that he is a player that Potter appreciates.
“I think, in Potter’s system, we saw Raheem Sterling play as a wing-back but he wasn’t really a wing-back or a winger because he was the furthest player forward for most of the game against Salzburg. Hudson-Odoi, in that role, could absolutely shine and I’m sure he’s got one eye on that at the moment.”
If Phillips is right and Potter did really try and bring him to Albion, then yes clearly that would suggest that the new Chelsea boss is a big supporter of the England international.
Hudson Odoi, who earns £120,000 per week in West London, is still only 21 and with the right manager he certainly has the potential to get a lot better.
He’s still such a young footballer and with Potter’s man-management skills then it’s a genuinely fascinating prospect to consider if he can succeed where Tuchel failed and take Hudson Odoi to the next level.
