Tottenham Hotspur right-back Djed Spence could leave Antonio Conte’s side on loan in the January transfer window, with clubs in the Premier League and the Championship interested in him, according to ESPN.

Djed Spence could leave Antonio Conte’s Tottenham on loan

The report has claimed that Spence could leave Tottenham on loan in the middle of the season after struggling to get much playing time under Conte so far this campaign.

The 22-year-old has played only three minutes in the Premier League and just 25 minutes in the Carabao Cup for Spurs so far this season.

Spence, who spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, cost Tottenham an initial £12.5 million in transfer fees (Sky Sports) in the summer of 2022 when they signed him from Middlesbrough.

ESPN have claimed that ‘a host of Premier League and Championship clubs’ are interested in the youngster.

Meanwhile, Stade Rennais Online have reported that Rennes could terminate Wales international centre-back Joe Rodon’s loan spell and send him back to Tottenham.

Loan exit sensible

In our opinion, it would make sense for Tottenham Hotspur to send Djed Spence out on loan in the January transfer window, especially to another Premier League club.

If Conte does not plan to make sure of the defender, then there is no point in him not warming the bench at Spurs.

Playing for another Premier League on loan would help Spence get to grips with the English top flight and help him grow and develop.
