Dejan Lovren has told talkSPORT that Mo Salah is very committed to Liverpool.
The Reds star’s future at Anfield is a subject of some debate right now.
Fabrizio Romano claimed earlier this month that Salah was completely happy at Liverpool but the player himself admitted in January that he was a fan of Real Madrid and Barcelona and refused to rule out a move to either at some point in the future.
The 28-year-old is contracted to the Premier League champions until 2023 but if they want to keep him on Merseyside for the best years of his career, a new deal would be wise.
Lovren left Liverpool last summer in a £11 million deal, but Salah was – and still is – his best friend in football.
He said today when asked by Jim White if his buddy was still committed to Liverpool: “Yes, of course. He’s not just for Liverpool, he’s for all the fans around and the supporters and for himself.
“Mo is in the best age of his football career at 28. Maybe he looks a bit older but he’s in the peak of his form so why not stay another four, five, six years?”
Good news
With that jibe about Salah’s appearance, you can tell that Lovren and the player remain close.
So if the Croat feels that Salah remains committed to Liverpool then obviously it comes from a very good source – perhaps even the player himself.
It’s so exciting to consider the possibility that there’s more to come from Salah – who has 23 goals in 32 games this season – and the Reds will absolutely want to secure his peak years.
And going by Lovren’s comments, that certainly seems possible.
