Should Tottenham have pushed harder to sign Cengiz Under?

Cengiz Under is blossoming into a budding superstar and Tottenham Hotspur might be regretting not pushing ahead for his signature.
Turkish outlet Ajanspor reported a move was close last summer – before Roma beat them to a deal for £11.7 million.
Spurs got a hint they had missed out on a gem in pre-season, when Under inevitably scored against them.
Now after a slow start to life at Roma, he is hitting top gear.
Under scored in the Champions League last night in Roma’s 2-1 away defeat to Shakhtar.

The goal came on his debut in the competition, having sat out the group stages.
That was his fifth goal in the last four games, in which he also has one assist too.
Under is playing as a winger but his finishing ability has been compared to Vincenzo Montella.
Eusebio Di Francesco told The Guardian: “He has this great quality of being able to line up his shot while still hiding it. Just like [Vincenzo] Montella used to do.”
Spurs have gone on to sign Lucas Moura and he looks to be a tremendous addition, but what if Tottenham had both of them?
Under, 20, looks to be a real gem and was available at a bargain price.
This certainly seems to have been an opportunity missed on their part and is a cause of the club waiting until the final month of the summer to do their transfer business, with Under making his move in July.
This summer perhaps Tottenham will have learned their lesson to act a bit earlier.
