Jamie Carragher has said on talkSPORT (4:41pm, July 25, 2022) that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are not favourites for the Premier League title next season, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are.
The Sky Sports pundit has also said that Norway international striker Erling Haaland is not going to make a massive difference to Manchester City in terms of the Premier League title race next season.
The former Liverpool defender has noted that Jurgen Klopp’s side and City are getting more than enough points.
City signed Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool secured the services of striker Darwin Nunez, but they lost Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich.

Jamie Carragher on Liverpool, Manchester City and Erling Haaland
Carragher said on talkSPORT (4:41pm, July 25, 2022) when asked if the gap between Liverpool and Manchester City will increase next season: “No, I don’t think so.
“I still think City are favourites, but I don’t think Haaland is a game-changer for City in terms of the league.
“To win the league now, you need to get 95 to 100 points. Are they going to get 110 points in a season? I think Haaland is the icing on the cake for the Champions League.”
Title race
In our view, Liverpool and Manchester City are the two strongest teams in the Premier League and will be the two favourites for the title.
However, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur will be determined to at least close the gap on the Reds and the Citizens.
Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world, and we think that he will make City better.
Now, Liverpool have lost Mane, but they have signed Nunez, and the striker is going to be a handful for opposition defences in the Premier League.
