Linked to Tottenham last summer, Quincy Promes was crowned a league champion this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur’s terrific season has been let down only by poor investment in the transfer market last summer, with only one of their four big signings becoming a success.

A player reportedly on their radar last summer was Dutch winger Quincy Promes, and he is a player they should strongly consider again this time around.

The Mail reported that Mauricio Pochettino was running the rule over the winger, and hopefully he has been keeping track of his progress.

At the weekend Promes scored his 11th goal of the season for Spartak Moscow, a goal which clinched them the Russian title.

It was the first league winner’s medal of Promes’ career, and a well earned one.

In addition to his impressive goal record, the winger has also provided 10 assists this campaign.

It is the sort of productiveness which Tottenham had hoped Georges-Kevin N’Koudou would bring, and while there is no guarantee Promes would flop too, it is a chance Spurs will have to take.

Promes is more experienced at 25, and can bring a winning mentality to Spurs after being involved in a successful title race.

The former Twente youngster has been at the Russian club since 2014 and now may be a good time for him to move on, having helped them to their first title since 2001.

Spurs would be naive not to take a look.
