With most clubs, there are, presumably, a handful of players who they may look at and regret selling them.

As an example, in Manchester United’s case, they probably rue allowing Paul Pogba to leave having re-signed him for a world-record £93.2 million fee.

While Arsenal haven’t quite made a mistake as costly as that, there are still a few ex-Gunners who Mikel Arteta would be sensible to re-sign…

The Gunners had Donyell Malen in their youth ranks, before allowing him to depart for PSV Eindhoven in 2017. Since then, the 21-year-old wonderkid hasn’t looked back.

Impressively, the Dutchman has already scored 11 goals this season, while notching 39 in 87 appearances for the Eredivisie outfit’s first-team in total.

Olivier Giroud

The man who Arsene Wenger signed for £12 million back in 2012 would be an excellent addition based on recent comments from Arteta.

The Spaniard asked his side to cross the ball more in his press conference on Wednesday, and seeing as Olivier Giroud is one of the best in the box, it would be wise to re-sign him.

Additionally, the ex-Montpellier striker is ready to consider offers to leave Chelsea, with his place in France’s EURO squad under threat if he doesn’t get more game time as the Guardian reported.

Ismaël Bennacer

We’re not sure what Arsenal were thinking in 2017.

In the same year that Malen was allowed to leave, the north Londoners also let Ismaël Bennacer depart for Empoli.

Since then, the Algerian has made his way to title-chasing AC Milan, where he’s now a crucial cog in their side having racked up eight Serie A appearances this season.

Calciomercato have even reported that Arsenal are regretting their decision not to bring Bennacer back when they had the chance to do so.
