Romain Saiss made his debut for Wolves at the weekend and had an immediate impact as they beat Newcastle 2-0.
Wolves fans had gone into the game fearful, after their 4-0 midweek defeat at the hands of Barnsley, while Newcastle had won 6-0 away to QPR.

Saiss was a late summer signing from French side Angers, and settled straight into his preferred defensive midfield role, alongside fellow Ligue 1 addition Prince Oniangue.
While he only completed 51 per cent of his passes, he was effective in breaking up play and winning balls back for his team.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Romain Saiss | 2016-2017 | 51% | 2 | 6 | 11 | 56 | 1 | 90 |
Saiss made six interceptions and won the ball back 11 times for his side in total, a figure which was the best of any Wolves player this season – matched only by Prince Oniangue in the same game.
Oniangue also made 11 ball recoveries, although he made six fewer combined tackles and interceptions than teammate Saiss.

| Prince Oniangué | 2016-2017 | 68% | 0 | 2 | 11 | 38 | 0 | 90 |
Wolves boss Walter Zenga has been undone in recent weeks by his rotation policy, but after this game, both Saiss and Oniangue are surely must starts in the team.
The pair did well to help pull off a surprise win over Newcastle and deserve a run in the team together to build an even more effective partnership.
