Zungu nearing Rangers move

Rangers have been linked with a move for Bongani Zungu all summer, and it now seems that a deal is very close to being done.

The Daily Record report that Zungu is in Glasgow to finalise a move to Rangers, as he will join on loan for the season – which would, as things stand, take him up to the end of his Amiens contract.

The report adds that Rangers won’t be signing Muhamed Besic, with the 28-year-old set to stay at Everton.

Celtic confirm Laxalt deal

On the other side of Glasgow, Celtic have confirmed what appears to be their final signing of the summer transfer window in Diego Laxalt.

The 27-year-old has joined on loan from AC Milan for the season, though Celtic may be looking into a permanent move in 2021.

A Uruguayan international, Laxalt can now come in and play in the left-wing back spot in Celtic’s team having played there in Italy, and he appears to be a major coup having cost Milan big money in 2018.

Walcott nearing emotional Saints return

Throughout the day, Everton winger Theo Walcott has been linked with an emotional move back to former club Southampton – almost 15 years since he left the club.

Now, Sky Sports (21:22) Walcott has now completed his medical, and there is only paperwork preventing the wide man from being a Saint again.

Walcott, 31, has struggled for playing time under Carlo Ancelotti, and now heads back to the South Coast to try and get his career back on track.

Aston Villa confirm Nyland exit

Having signed Emiliano Martinez over the summer, Orjan Nyland has slipped down the pecking order, with Tom Heaton and Jed Steer also at Villa Park.

Villa have now announced that Nyland has left the club by mutual consent, meaning the Norwegian is a free agent and can move on to a new club.
